Before Intravenous Anesthesia Sedation

You may not have anything to eat or drink (including water) for six (6) hours prior to the appointment.
A responsible adult must accompany you to the office, remain in the office during the procedure, and drive you home. You should be supervised for the first 24 hours after surgery.
No smoking at least 12 hours before surgery. Minimize or stop smoking prior to the day of surgery.
You should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following the surgery.
Wear no tight clothing on the day of your appointment. Wear a short sleeved shirt or blouse and low-heeled, comfortable shoes.
Visit the restroom one half hour before your appointment
Contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures must be removed at the time of surgery.
Do not wear lipstick, excessive makeup, or nail polish on the day of surgery.
If you have an illness such as a cold, sore throat, stomach or bowel upset, please notify the office at least 24 hours in advance if possible. A change of appointment may be necessary.
If you take routine oral medications, please check with Dr. Pennington prior to your surgical date for instructions.
