Patient Instructions
Before Intravenous Anesthesia Sedation
- You may not have anything to eat or drink (including water) for six (6) hours prior to the appointment.
- A responsible adult must accompany you to the office, remain in the office during the procedure, and drive you home. You should be supervised for the first 24 hours after surgery.
- No smoking at least 12 hours before surgery. Minimize or stop smoking prior to the day of surgery.
- You should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following the surgery.
- Wear no tight clothing on the day of your appointment. Wear a short sleeved shirt or blouse and low-heeled, comfortable shoes.
- Visit the restroom one half hour before your appointment
- Contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures must be removed at the time of surgery.
- Do not wear lipstick, excessive makeup, or nail polish on the day of surgery.
- If you have an illness such as a cold, sore throat, stomach or bowel upset, please notify the office at least 24 hours in advance if possible. A change of appointment may be necessary.
- If you take routine oral medications, please check with Dr. Pennington prior to your surgical date for instructions.
